Who we are
Welcome to RocketMint.net — a lighthearted, parody-style site created purely for fun and personal enjoyment. This site exists to track a fictional (and sometimes real!) investment portfolio, share jokes, and explore the world of finance with a smile. Nothing here is financial advice, and everything is made in good spirit.
1. Not a Serious Website (Seriously)
RocketMint.net is a parody project. It’s not affiliated with any financial institution, broker, or advisor. This is a personal playground built for entertainment, personal experimentation, and comic relief in the sometimes-too-serious world of money and investing.
2. Information Collected
While RocketMint.net itself does not intentionally collect personal data, some third-party plugins or analytics tools used on the site may collect basic information such as:
- Browser type
- IP address
- Approximate location
- Pages visited
This is usually done to help improve the website experience (or just to see if anyone other than me visits the site!).
3. Cookies
RocketMint.net may use cookies through third-party plugins. These are small data files stored on your browser to help the site function correctly. You can block cookies via your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work properly afterward.
4. No Accounts or Logins
There’s no login system or user registration. You’re not required to provide any personal information to use the site.
5. Embedded Content & External Links
Some pages might include embedded content (like YouTube videos, charts, or memes). These external services may collect data as if you visited their platform directly. I try to keep it minimal.
6. Data Sharing
I don’t sell or share any data — mostly because I don’t have much to begin with. But plugins I use might have their own policies. For full transparency, check the respective plugin provider’s privacy terms if you’re curious.
7. Your Consent
By using RocketMint.net, you agree to this quirky, friendly, and mostly harmless privacy policy. If you don’t agree — no worries, just don’t use the site.
Here is extra information about the plugins i use:
Do your plugins track any data?
We do not track any user data via our plugins. But if our plugin depends on any third party service, they might track user data. This can happen in following two ways:
1. Embedded Widgets
Some of our plugins have features to integrate embedded widgets as is, from third party services (like Facebook Like, Facebook Recommend, Twitter Tweet official buttons). You can include relevant text in the privacy policy of your website as mentioned below.
2. Third-party APIs/Connections
Our plugins send request to third party APIs via website-visitor’s web browser to fetch information (like social shares, social comment count). This request made by web browser may include IP address, which can then be seen by the third-party that it’s being requested from. This API request doesn’t include any personal data of the website user other than the IP address. To make your users aware of this, you can include relevant snippets in your website’s privacy policy.
Where is the data collected by your plugins stored?
We do not store any data fetched by our plugins on our servers, neither we share that data with any third party. Our plugins run absolutely on your website and store the data in the database of your website.
Do your plugins load any external scripts?
As mentioned before, our plugins run absolutely from your website and hence load the scripts too from your website with exception of third-party embedded widgets (like Facebook Like/Recommend official button, Twitter tweet official button, Facebook Comments) which require our plugin to load scripts from the servers of relevant service. You can include relevant snippets in the Privacy Policy of your website stating how these services handle privacy of your users.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
